Former star cricketer Shahid Afridi who was famous for tormenting the bowlers with his towering out-of-the-ground hits turned into a fine gentleman when he took on a team of the Excise Department which impounded the car in which he was travelling in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
It was learnt that the former Pakistan cricket team captain was being driven to Lahore Airport by the driver of his host when an Excise Department team stopped the tax defaulter ADR500 vehicle on Canal Road.
The excise team told Shahid Afridi, who did not own the car, that Rs26,835 under the head of token tax were due upon which the masterblaster made a call to his host Ali Ahsan and had him pay the tax online.
The former star cricketer appreciated the excise team and advised the citizens to pay the tax on time. Thereafter, he left for the airport.
