Lahore Airport runway closed after plane’s tire exploded

Lahore Airport runway has been closed after a plane’s tire exploded, reported 24News HD TV channel on Thursday. 

During the take-off of a foreign cargo plane at Lahore Airport, tires exploded on the runway. After the plane stopped, the control tower stopped other flights closing the airport runway. The rescue vehicles rushed to the runway as soon as the tires exploded.

According to the airport administration, a private courier company’s cargo ship is being parked in front of the Hajj terminal. Due to the closure of the runway, flight 406 of a private company from Karachi to Lahore has been diverted to Islamabad airport while the departure of flight 305 of PIA from Lahore to Karachi has also been stopped. According to the airport administration, the closure of the runway is likely to affect the schedule of more flights.

There must be two runways at the airport. The runway has not been repaired for over a year due to the inefficiency of the civil aviation authority. The purpose of two runways is to use the other runway in an emergency.
