Federal Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has notified Social Media Rules 2021 prohibiting the streaming of hateful, abuse, extremist and terrorist content, 24NrewsHD TV channel.

Federal Information Technology (IT) minister Amin ul Haq said that social media companies have to follow Social Media Rules 2021

Amin ul Haq said that social media companies will be bound to remove the derogatory content against Pakistan’s integrity and sovereignty.

He said that exhibition and promotion of immoral and obscene material would be a felony.

Amin ul Haq said that social networking platforms will now have to set up their offices in Pakistan as soon as possible. 

It also bound social networking platforms to appoint their focal person for Pakistan.

Social Media Rules 2021 directed companies to share service provider community guidelines.

Amin Ul Haq said that ‘negative content’ against any person would be uploaded and there would be no content on people’s private life. 

IT minister said that Rules also banned content against Pakistan’s cultural and moral patterns and content that hinders children’s mental and physical nourishment.
