Govt appoints Shahid Khokhar as ITNE Chairman 

The Federal Government has appointed Shahid Mahmood Khokhar as Chairman Implementation Tribunal for Newspaper Employees (ITNE) to resolve the issues of newspaper employees, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

 The ITNE was without a head for more than two years despite repeated calls from journalist unions and media workers to speed up the appointment. The massive delay resulted in the pendency of hundreds of cases filed by journalists.

According to a notification issued by Establishment Division on Friday, the posting of Shahid Mahmood has been made on an MP-1 scale for 3 years and the appointment is effective immediately and until further notice. 

ITNE is a subsidiary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. 

It is pertinent that the positing of ITNE is much to the relief of the hundreds of journalists who have been running from pillar to post for their rights from the owners of the newspapers.
