An important meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif decided to form the Apex Committee and reactivation of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) on Friday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the NSC meeting decided that the Apex Committee will be constituted at the central level and will be chaired by the Prime Minister himself.
The NSC meeting was held at the Prime Minister House in which apart from federal ministers, service chiefs, heads of intelligence institutions and other senior officials participated.
The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation in the country in detail while the concerned officials gave briefings to the participants on the law and order situation in Swat and other areas of Pakistan.
The meeting appreciated the role of all the law enforcement agencies including the Pakistan army, rangers, and police in the establishment of peace and order in the country and paid tribute to the martyred officers and soldiers.
It was reiterated that the sacrifices of the martyrs will not go in vain.
The meeting declared that the nation and the state institutions are one soul and one voice for the protection of the life and property of the citizens, the protection of the geographical integrity of Pakistan, the rule of law and the rule of law.
The entire nation is not only united on the above goals but their achievement will be ensured at any cost.
The meeting reviewed the law and order situation in some parts of the country including Swat and made it clear that the law will deal strictly with anyone involved in the incidents.
The meeting said citizens along with their brave soldiers have made unprecedented sacrifices and played a historic role in the war against terrorism.
The meeting decided to form the Apex Committee at the central level which will be chaired by the Prime Minister. While NACTA will be activated which will work in collaboration with Counter-Terrorism Departments (CTDs) at the provincial level.
The meeting also decided that the anti-terrorism system will be reactivated at the federal and provincial levels and this system will also perform monitoring duties.
The meeting approved effective measures to fool-proof the security of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. For this purpose, NACTA will be responsible for implementation.
Member of National Assembly Mohsin Dawar, leader of Awami National Party (ANP) Mian Iftikhar Hussain also participated in the meeting.

KP Chief Minister avoids attending NSC meeting

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mehmood Khan did not attend the NSC’s important meeting despite being invited.

As per the channel report, the chief minister refused to join the meeting despite the fact that there was a consultation on the issue of terrorism in KP in the meeting.

The channel said that the KP chief minister was also supposed to brief the meeting regarding the law and order in his province.
