The court Tuesday announced a verdict on its reserved decision and ruled to continue trial against former premiers of the PPP in the case of illegal appointment of OGRA chairman.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, the Accountability court of Judge Muhammad Bashir rejected the plea of three accused including former premier Raja Pervez Ashraf in the reference.

In the corruption reference, six accused including former premier Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Raja Pervez Ashraf, former secretary Sikandar Hayat, and former executive director OGRA Javed Nazir have been named.

Pertinent to mention here that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had told the apex court on August 07, 2012, regarding the case that Raja and Gilani were involved in the illegal appointment of the chairman of OGRA Tauqeer Sadiq.

The NAB told the court that at the time of illegal appointment, Raja was the chairman of interview board while federal secretaries Zafar Mehmood and Nargis Sethi were members of the board.

The NAB further informed the court that Gilani was the prime minister at the time of illegal appointment and all of them were involved in the act.
