In a unique and politically charged moment, four grooms turned their mass wedding ceremony into a platform for protest against the controversial canal projects on the River Indus, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

According to the report, the demonstration took place in the village of Mustafa Abad, where Amjad Ali, Zameer Hussain, Ahmed Nawaz, and Saeed Ahmed Khokhar used the occasion of their wedding to chant slogans and raise their voices against the disputed canal scheme.

The protest drew attention not just for its timing but for the strong message delivered during what is traditionally a joyous celebration.

The grooms, dressed in wedding attire, led the protest with full-throated slogans against what they believe to be an environmentally and socially damaging project on the River Indus.

This rare fusion of festivity and dissent highlighted growing public resistance in interior Sindh against controversial water projects that locals fear will disrupt the region’s ecological balance and water supply.
