ECP starts work on EVMs, overseas voting

The Project Management Unit of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has started working on two important projects including overseas voting and electronic voting machines (EVMs), reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Tuesday.
As per the ECP, machines will be purchased for pilot testing in the first phase from national or international firms, according to the rules of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA). The purchase of machines will be advertised in the newspapers.
A report concerning EVMs and overseas voting has also been compiled by three committees which throws light on the technical, financial, and legal aspects of these two projects.
The report comprises all important measures and plans for the two projects according to the international standards, and it has been presented to the ECP for appraisal.
