Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Ali Khurshidi while expressing reservations on the provincial budget 2024-25, said that Sindh government refused to adopt the suggestions of the opposition which was undemocratic, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The opposition leader claimed that during the budget, CM Murad Shah allocated funds for the Safe City Authority project. The opposition leader claimed that Karachi’s citizens had been waiting for the Safe City project for the last 12 years and still the work on the project was not being started.

He claimed that the Opposition tried to share its recommendations to the government regarding the budget but Sindh CM refused to even listen to their suggestions.

He said MQM Pakistan keeps the mandate of 80 percent population of Sind’s urban areas.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami MPA Muhammad Farooq has termed the Sindh budget as anti-public and rejected it.

JI MPA said in the budget, all of the burden was put on the salaried class while the provincial government gave subsidies in tax to big land owners.

He said this budget was aimed at pleasing the IMF which was controlling the country. He said that Sindh government did not allocate enough funds for Karachi which was giving record revenue to the government.

JI MPA lamented that neither Sindh government nor the Centre was serious about solving the woes of the people of Karachi. He demanded that Rs500 billion should be allocated for the development of Karachi. JI MPA demanded of the Sindh government to bring big land owners into the tax net.
