Two arrested over marriage of underage girl in Nowshera

Nowshera police on Tuesday arrested a 40-year-old man for forcing a 12-year-old girl into illegally marrying him with the connivance of her father who was also nabbed by the police, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to police, the accused were arrested in a raid organised in Risalpur area a day before the bride’s departure to the house of her alleged husband.
The accused have been identified as Bani Ameen (girl’s father) and 40-year-old Khalid (girl’s alleged husband).
The police also recovered a pistol, with a bullet inside, from the possession of the accused.
“The girl’s father was equally involved in intimidating the girl and her mother into marrying off the girl with a 40-year-old man,” police said.
“Raids are being carried out for the arrest of the marriage registrar and witnesses,” said police.
