Six security men were martyred in a terrorist attack on Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) convoy on Makran Coastal Highway (N-10) on Thursday.
One security forces vehicle caught fire amid the crossfire between the security forces and the attackers.
The unidentified attackers ambushed the convoy near Buzi Top on the coastal highway. Six of the security personnel escorting the OGDCL employees died due to the firing of the terrorists.
The reinforcements were rushed in and the security forces have cordoned off the area.
The latest terror attack came on the heels of another hit on Wednesday when at least 11 people including seven labourers were injured in a hand grenade attack in Quetta.
The labourers were busy in work at Ispani Road in the city when some unidentified persons threw a hand grenade near them which exploded with a big bang, injuring seven labourers and four passersby.
The injured were rushed to Civil and Bolan Hospitals in Quetta for treatment.
The security forces personnel reached the blast scene after shifting the injured to the hospitals and started collecting evidence. They also cordoned off the whole area to hunt down the attackers.
Also in April last year, 14 passengers were picked out with the help of their National Identity Cards (NICs), forcibly offloaded from their bus and then shot dead by unidentified assailants on the Makran Coastal Highway near Ormara.
The attack occurred in the Buzi Top area. According to then Balochistan's Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohsin Hassan Butt, 15-20 unidentified armed assailants in camouflage were involved in the attack.
