Armed individuals have taken control of an Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) camp in Sanghar, holding over 150 employees hostage at gunpoint.
The 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday that despite 24 hours passing since the incident, the Sindh police remained helpless spectators and did not take any action against the offenders.
During an emergency press conference, OGDCL’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mehboob Magsi, revealed that heavily armed men attacked the camp within the jurisdiction of Chotiari Police Station in Sanghar and sealed off the camp's entrance, effectively trapping 150 individuals inside.
Magsi expressed his frustration over the lack of security, saying that “despite 24 hours passing, state security institutions have failed to provide protection” and alleged that the local police are unwilling to provide any assistance.
He further claimed that the armed persons had been issuing threats and extorting money for several months.
Magsi questioned the silence of security forces, highlighting that “despite the video of the incident going viral on social media, the silence of security forces raises many questions.”
The OGDCL's PRO also expressed fear that the armed men might kill the 150 employees and take complete control of the camp.
