Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to take legal action against Aitzaz Ahsan's statement, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.
In this regard, PML-N leader and husband of the party’s vice president Maryam Nawaz, Capt (r) Safdar filed a contempt of court petition in Islamabad High against PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan. Advocate General Islamabad and Registrar Islamabad High Court have also been made parties in the petition.
It is pleaded to start proceeding over the statement of Aitzaz Ahsan under contempt of court. Capt. R. Safdar underwent biometric verification before filing the application.
It is pertinent that Aitzaz Ahsan had given a statement on the acquittal of the Sharif family cases a few days ago. He said that Nawaz Sharif got out of everything very easily.
He spoke candidly about how the charges against Nawaz Sharif, his brother Shehbaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz had been dropped. “Bajwa has committed a crime by letting them go,” said Aitzaz Ahsan, referencing the amendments in NAB proceedings.
He further said it was unfortunate that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had been used for political engineering in Pakistan.
