Punjab Home Secretary Noor Ul Amin Mengal has approved the shifting of Camp Jail in Lahore to another location in the city, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday .

After the decision, the oldest prison of the city Camp Jail will be constructed at a new location in the city.

However, Camp Jail is likely to be constructed Kot Lakhpat are in the surroundings of the Central Jail Kot lakhpat.

The District Jail known as Camp Jail presently is located in the center of Lahore in Shadman, a posh area of the city on the Ferozpur Road.

District Jail Lahore was commissioned in 1930 and area of Jail is 32 acre 04 kanal 01 marlas while area of lines is one acre and four kanal and area of Jail colony is on one acre and kanal.

The authorized accommodation of the Jail is 1050 prisoners whereas 2895 prisoners presently are confined here.
