Multan Sultans hand eighth consecutive PSL 7 defeat to Karachi Kings

There was no end to the miseries of Babar Azam-led Karachi Kings as they suffered a record eighth consecutive defeat in the ongoing seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Nothing seemed to go in Karachi way as they looked totally out of sorts in the whole event and have seemingly no player that could be an answer to their woes, raising a question on the sanity of the choices made by the Karachi Kings management during the player’s draft.
This time around Kings captain Babar Azam elected to bat first after winning the toss in an attempt to change his team’s fortune. However, he himself failed to rise to the occasion and became a victim of Rumman Raees after scoring just 2 runs off four balls.
Sharjeel Khan, who is yet to click in the event, played a cautious and slow innings of 36 off 34 balls hitting two sixes and a four. On the other end, Joe Clarke sped up the things and scored 40 runs off 29 balls hitting three sixes and two fours.
Last match start performer for Karachi Kings, Qasim Akram also went early after scoring 13 runs. Wicket-keeper batsman Rohail Nazir made 21 off 12 balls and Muhammad Nabi 21 runs off 15 balls.
However, a late flourish from Imad Wasim helped Kings reach a decent and defendable total of 174-6. Imad remained unbeaten for his 32 runs off 16 balls, hitting five fours and a six.
Sultans started their chase of 175 runs comfortably as their inform openers Shan Masood and captain Muhammad Rizwan piled up a 100 runs partnership for the opening wicket. However, they took 14.2 overs to reach the mark and when Shan Masood was out after scoring 45 runs off 41 balls, the Kings were sensing an opening.
However, Rizwan changed the gear of his innings and went for the attack. After scoring 50 off 45 balls, he was out after scoring 76 runs off 56 balls. Tim David was next to go after making 13 runs off 7 balls as Sultans needed 34 runs off 14 balls.
However, Rilee Rossouw and Khushdil Shah wiped off 20 runs in Chris Jordan’s next over to leave it nine runs required in the last over.
Rossouw finished off the innings with a six on the third ball of the last over as Sultans reached home in 19.3 overs, winning the tie by seven wickets.
Rossouw remained unbeaten for his 14 runs off 5 balls and Khushdil was not out for his 21 runs off nine balls.
