Cabinet approves transit of UNDP vehicles’ parts to Afghanistan, extradition of terror suspect to Norway

The Federal Cabinet met on Thursday with Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar in the chair.

The Federal Cabinet approved several decisions, including the transit of vehicle spare parts and new tyres for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Afghanistan and the extradition of a dual national terror accused to Norway.

According to a press release, the Cabinet approved the transit/transfer of spare parts and new tyres of vehicles used by the UNDP Afghanistan Country Office from Karachi Port to Kabul, Afghanistan, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Commerce.

The Cabinet was informed that such imports and their transfer to Afghanistan are prohibited to prevent smuggling in the country, however, under the UNDP, the spare parts and tyres used by the United Nations and not for commercial purposes will be let go.

The Cabinet also approved the redeployment of Grade Base (20) Officer Khan Nawaz of the Secretariat Group as Member Finance in the Heavy Industry Taxila, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Defense Production.

The Cabinet also approved the extradition of Irfan Qadir Bhatti, an accused with dual citizenship, to Norway, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Interior. The cabinet was told that the person was accused of involvement in terrorism by the Norwegian government. It was told that an additional deputy commissioner of Islamabad was tasked to dig into the matter and the probe found the person was involved in terrorism and other illegal activities.
