Pronouncing a reserved verdict on the petition filed by PTI-backed independent candidate Barrister Salman Akram Raja, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday declared the notification of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) candidate Aun Chaudhry’s victory from the National Assembly constituency, NA-128, Lahore null and void, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The IHC also directed the returning officer (RO) to submit his report in three days.
Challenging Chaudhry’s election win in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday, Barrister Raja had prayed to the court to suspend the notification of his rival candidate’s victory.
Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC), on Barrister Raja’s plea, had barred the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from issuing the results of the election in NA-128.
It is pertinent to mention here that according to the ECP results, Chaudhry emerged victorious from the constituency by securing 172,576 votes followed by Barrister Raja who got 159,024 votes.
