Punjab’s School Education Department of Punjab has decided to integrate 13,000 government schools with private sector support, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.

This initiative comes in response to the alarming data revealing that 567 government schools are operating without a single teacher, and a staggering 25,000 schools have only one teacher on staff.

To address this critical shortage, the department has outlined a phased approach where, initially, schools with no teachers or a single teacher and a minimum of fifty students will transition to management by the Private Education Management Authority (Pema).

The subsequent phases will see 4,453 schools in the second phase and 2,903 schools in the third phase being entrusted to the private sector and non-governmental organizations, respectively.
