The Punjab government has decided to eliminate several NOCs (No Objection Certificates) and introduce a digitalised approval system for private housing societies, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The decision came after extensive consultation with all stakeholders. Under current rules, developers need multiple NOCs from the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) for launching private housing societies, but even after fulfilling the requirements, technical approvals often face delays.

A meeting chaired by the Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) lasted four hours, involving major developers and key officials from relevant authorities.

During the discussion, it was agreed to simplify processes, including eliminating NOCs like those from TEPA and the Environment Department and transitioning to a digital approval system.

The stakeholders highlighted that delays in granting timely approvals often result in the proliferation of illegal housing schemes.

The meeting also emphasized streamlining the approval process for launching societies in brownfield areas.

This reform aims to expedite approvals, reduce red tape, and discourage the growth of unauthorised societies.
