Ramazan has come and gone, Eid has passed too, but over 200,000 deserving individuals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are still waiting for the relief package promised by the provincial government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.

The much-hyped Ramazan and Eid assistance package meant to disburse Rs. 10,000 each to over 10 million families has hit a bureaucratic wall, sources revealed.

Documents show the government had committed to distributing aid to 10,016,395 families, but technical glitches and mismatches in CNICs, names, and other identification data have left a large chunk of the population empty-handed.

What was supposed to be a gesture of support during the holy month has now turned into a logistical nightmare for the KP government.

Sources within the Social Welfare Department disclosed that while 805,000 individuals have received aid so far, more than 200,000 eligible citizens are still waiting.

“The package distribution process is ongoing,” said KP Minister for Social Welfare Qasim Ali Shah, acknowledging the delays. “Some technical issues prevented timely delivery, but efforts are being made to ensure all those eligible receive their due relief.”

Shah stated that around 800,000 people received their aid before or during Ramazan, and the department is actively working on resolving issues affecting the remaining beneficiaries.

However, critics argue that the failure to ensure clean, verified databases has once again exposed deep flaws in the system meant to support the most vulnerable.

For now, hundreds of thousands of impoverished families in KP wait—not just for the Rs. 10,000 relief, but also for a system that works when it matters the most.
