Business magnate Gohar Ijaz named interim federal minister for trade and commerce

Business tycoon Dr. Gohar Ijaz has been named as interim federal minister for trade and commerce, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
Dr. Gohar Ijaz is a recipient of Hilal-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his services to the country for his tireless efforts to increase the country's exports.
He will take oath along with other cabinet ministers on August 17.
According to sources, Gohar is one of the well-known business personalities of Pakistan. His father Senator Ejaz Ahmed Sheikh was also an eminent entrepreneur of the country.
Dr. Gohar Ijaz was conferred with Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2013, while Punjab University awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2021.
Again, the government awarded him with Hilal-e-Imtiaz in 2022 for his valuable services in the social, economic, educational, and health sectors.
Gohar Ejaz has been the Patron Chief of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association. He worked day and night to increase local exports.
Owing to his tireless efforts, domestic exports increased from $13b to $19.4 billion from 2018 to 2022.
The sources said that Gohar has made a lot of efforts for the economic stability of the country. By getting competitive rates of electricity and gas to the textile sector, Pakistan's exports increased and millions of people got employment.
He is considered one of the visionary business circles in the country. Gohar Ejaz has rendered valuable services in the health sector in Pakistan.
During the Corona epidemic, Gohar Ejaz provided free ration to one lakh people at least.
He has established a trust of Lahore Institute of Health for the treatment of deserving and poor patients, under this trust 3000 patients and their families are provided free food in the hospitals of Lahore.
Under the Ejaz Ahmad Sheikh Trust, Jinnah Hospital Lahore has installed 56 dialysis machines for kidney patients, with which 50,000 dialysis are done annually.
He also started mobile laboratories for hepatitis patients in Lahore and its surroundings under Dr. Gohar Ejaz Foundation.
Dr. Gohar said that efforts will be made to get rid of debts by restoring domestic industries and increasing Pakistan's exports.
