Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Sherry Rehman said the PPP, known for facing challenging situations with resilience, is poised to initiate its election campaign starting from Garhi Khuda Baksh on Dec 27, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference along with Sharjeel Memon and Shazia Murree, she said the PPP Parliamentary Board convened on Saturday, aligning its strategies as it gears up for the upcoming elections.

She said that the PPP welcomed the announcement of the election schedule, affirming its commitment to active participation in the democratic process.

She said “Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had appreciated the Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict.

“The PPP has always demanded timely elections. The party’s core committee has also welcomed the decision delivered by the apex court,” Sherry stated.

She said, “Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has presided over the hybrid meeting. The party leadership has monitored the country’s political situation.”

“We want timely elections and hope that no one will resort to delaying tactics in the elections. The PPP is also holding its meetings of the parliamentary boards,” Sherry said.

Sherry observed that the party played a crucial role in shaping the democratic landscape of the country and remained dedicated to upholding democratic values.

Addressing concerns about a level playing field, the PPP leader asserts the party’s right to demand fairness and equal opportunities in the electoral arena.

“We have to do our job to be a ray of hope for the people,” she said, adding that Bilawal Bhutto will become the Prime Minister.

The party's commitment to a democratic process that ensures a fair and transparent election remains unwavering, she hinted.

Expressing his thoughts, PPP leader Sharjeel Inam Memon said, “The PPP is the only party that stresses the need for holding timely elections in the country. The other political parties in the country are seemingly running away from the polls.”

“The PPP is the only party that talks about its manifesto and follows it practically.

Some of the political parties are running their campaigns by taking credit for the PPP’s achievements,” Memon stated.

He took a jibe at the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, saying, “Those who used to say that everyone will have to face arrests are himself behind bars.”
