Bangladesh batsman Nasir Hossain was banned Tuesday from playing cricket until April 2025 after admitting he failed to reveal he was approached to engage in "corrupt conduct", officials said.
The ban follows an investigation into seven other players and officials for reported breaching of anti-corruption rules and alleged match-fixing during the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) said Hossain had accepted three charges and been handed a two-year ban, six months of which would be suspended depending on behaviour.
Hossain failed to tell anti-graft officials of the "receipt of a gift" of a new iPhone 12, valued at $750, and the "full details of the approach or invitation he received to engage in Corrupt Conduct" via the phone, the ICC said.
He also admitted he had "failed or refused" to cooperate with the anti-graft officials in the probe into possible corruption.
Hossain was handed the ban by the sport's governing body after he "accepted three charges of breaching the Emirates Cricket Board's Anti-Corruption Code" the ICC said in Dubai.
"Subject to him satisfying the conditions in respect of the suspended part of the sanction, he will be free to resume international cricket on 7 April 2025," the ICC added.
