As the general elections are less than a month away, and the PTI finds itself cornered after the imprisonment of its ex-chairman Imran Khan, scores of party leaders and workers, and above all the loss of its election symbol of ‘bat’, there are reports of a rift developing in its ranks, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Cracks have appeared in the PTI leadership as Advocate Sher Afzal Marwat, the party’s firebrand leader, who was busy campaigning in Sindh, has returned from the province in protest against the allegations levelled against him by the party’s spokesman Rauf Hassan and Advocate Hamid Khan.

In his response to these allegations, Marwat has said that it is unfortunate that both Hassan and Hamid are criticizing him. “First they tried to expel me from the PTI’s legal team. Now they have problems with my electioneering in Sindh.”

It was better, he went on to say, if both of them now ran the election campaign themselves. “I challenge them to run the campaign the way I ran,” he said.

A few months ago, Marwat had developed differences with another PTI lawyer Advocate Shoaib Shaheen.

However later, the party leadership sorted out their differences.
