Smuggled cigarettes worth Rs 30 crore seized

In line with the anti-smuggling drive, Customs Intelligence seized smuggled cigarettes worth Rs 303 million during different nationwide raids, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
According to a spokesperson of the Customs Intelligence, the customs officials confiscated branded cigarettes by carrying out operations at eight different places in Sindh province.
The estimated value of the seized cigarettes is Rs 69.7 million.
Likewise, imported cigarettes worth Rs 114.2 million were impounded during the operation in Balochistan.
The smuggled cigarettes worth Rs 75.3 million were confiscated in Punjab and Rs 43.9 million worth of cigarettes were seized by the Customs Intelligence in KPK.
The spokesperson said that Rs 8.15 million price cigarettes were captured from all over the country during the eight days.
Rs 1324 million worth of cigarettes were impounded by Customs Intelligence in the current financial year.
The spokesperson said efforts are being made effectively to prevent the smuggling of smuggled cigarettes.
