The Balochistan Health Department has issued recruitment letters to 849 doctors after the approval of the provincial cabinet, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
These doctors have been appointed on a contract basis for the provision of healthcare facilities to people in remote areas of the province. These include 131 consultants, 60 specialists, 270 medical officers, 313 lady medical officers, and 75 dental surgeons.
There is a clear instruction from the chief minister that the recruited doctors will not be appointed in any big hospital including Quetta. Thus, these doctors have been posted in remote areas of the province in all districts where they were not available at present. “The aim of the provincial government’s move is to immediately end a shortage of doctors and provide treatment facilities to the masses at their doorsteps.
Balochistan Information Technology (IT) Department will set up a monitoring mechanism to ensure the attendance and service delivery of recruited doctors.
