Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that irrefutable evidence has been collected against the perpetrators, abettors, and inciters of May 9 violence, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, she alleged that the design of attacking national installations, including Jinnah House, and burning the monuments of martyrs was hatched in Zaman Park, Lahore. She said that Zaman Park has become a hub of terrorists.
She said those involved in ransacking or attacking the civilian institutes or installations will be tried under the relevant civil laws while those involved in attacking the military installations will be tried by military courts.
She said that the matter of attacking military installations comes under the army's jurisdiction.
The minister said there are clear directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that no injustice will be done to anyone, however, those against whom evidence is found will be made an example.
She said Imran Khan is the mastermind of all this mayhem who destabilized the country with his poor policies during his tenure, disrupted the entire social fabric through polarization, and today, he is instigating violence and hatred.
The minister was referring to the attacks on May 9 — dubbed as 'Black Day by the military and civilian leadership — which took place after PTI Chairman Imran Khan's arrest in a corruption case.
The information minister lamented that the national flag which we love most was burnt. “The memorial of Ghazis and Martyrs was burnt,” she said, adding that PTI has challenged the writ of the state and it is the government's duty to give justice to the students whose schools were burned, to the patients who were dragged out of hospitals and ambulances and the families of martyrs whose feelings were hurt.
Recalling the incidents of 9 May, the Minister said it was an open war against the country the way violent PTI workers attacked memorials of our heroes and the historic building of Radio Pakistan, the voice that announced the creation of our country.
The minister said all events are masterminded by Imran Khan. “We have strong evidence that PTI chairman Imran Khan issued instructions to his activists through video clips to attack state institutions,” she added.
She said that the Armed forces are the protectors of our borders and that the nation acknowledges the sacrifices of our brave soldiers who sacrificed themselves for the sake of our motherland.
Maryam Aurangzeb said there is an audio of Murad Saeed asking his workers to reach the spot.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said the nation today stands at a decisive juncture where political instability is fomenting economic instability and we have to say no to politics of violence, hatred, and polarization.
