Police arrest man for raping daughter in Jatoi

Women and girls in our society are blamed for even when crimes have been committed against them. If there is a rape incident outside the house, it is the woman who faces accusation of wearing improper attire and leaving the home.

The motorway gang-rape case and the repeated comments made by the Lahore police chief are a prime example of this mentality. But there is complete silence when the women face violence at home by their family members.

One such horrific incident was reported on Saturday by 24NewsHD TV channel from Jatoi tehsil of Muzaffargarh district where a father raped his daughter.

According to details, the victim girl reached Shahar Sultan Police Station along with her maternal uncle to narrate her months-long ordeal which arrested the accused.

The police, who registered a case against the accused, say it wasn’t a one-time incident as the barbaric father continued raping her for six months and had confessed to committing the crime.

And in Qambar Shahdadkot district of Sindh, a tribal jirga presided over by Sardar Nawab Chandio imposed an Rs1.6 million fine on a rape accused, also ordering him to leave the area for three years.

The victim girl, Yasmin Memon, was raped by the accused two months ago in Chajra village.

As the allegations were proved before the jirga, the two parties also decided to withdraw the cases filed against each other.
