Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has suspended registration of 515 vehicles for defaulting on token tax, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

In this regard, Director Motors Chaudhary Asif warned the vehicle owners that in case of non-deposit of tax within 15 days, registration will be cancelled and 100 percent penalty will be collected.

The Director Motors said that earlier, notices were served to the owners of the defaulting vehicles at their door steps.

He said that despite the notices, the tax has not been paid by the defaulters for many years.

Chaudhry Asif further said that vehicle owners whose registration has been suspended have not been paying token tax for many years.

He said that the suspended 515 vehicle owners owe a tax of about Rs5.1 million.

The registration of thousands more vehicles in default of token tax will be suspended this week, Chaudhry Asif concluded.
