The direct flight operations between Urumqi and Islamabad have led to a notable surge in air cargo revenue, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
As per data released by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), the new cargo route has been operationalized by SF Airlines, a subsidiary of one of China’s largest logistics and courier companies.
According to officials, Pakistan’s air cargo revenue reached Rs72.3 million in March 2025, the highest figure since November 2021, when the last major revenue spike peaked at Rs49 million.
The increase is primarily attributed to SF Cargo’s consistent freight service, which currently operates twice weekly.
Each flight carries approximately 22,775 kilograms of cargo, facilitating smoother trade and logistics between the two countries.
In light of the growing demand and success of the operation, the PAA has confirmed that SF Cargo plans to expand its service to four flights per week between Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Islamabad.
