The First Information Report (FIR) has been filed in Jalandhar under section 299 of IPC against Bollywood actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda and director Gopi Chand, over the controversial church scene in their upcoming movie 'Jaat'.
They received complaints from members of the Christian community and they are demanding a ban on the film's release, claiming the portrayal insults their faith.
The controversy erupted after members of the Christian community alleged that Jaat contains scenes that disrespect Jesus Christ and Christian religious practices.
"The director, writer, and producer deliberately released this film during the holy month of Good Friday and Easter so that the Christians get angry and riots break out in the entire country and unrest is spread," the complainant alleged.
One particularly controversial scene reportedly shows Hooda standing inside a church during a prayer session, claiming to be sent by Jesus Christ, before opening fire.
“Our religion does not teach us to harm others,” said a community leader, and condemned the portrayal.
