Alleging widespread rigging in the general elections in Sindh, senior PTI leader Halim Adil Sheikh said on Sunday that only two parties, the PTI and Jammat-e-Islami (JI), enjoyed the mandate of the people of Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, he saluted JI Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman for relinquishing his seat, saying it belonged to a PTI candidate.

He said that had the ROs been taken from judiciary, such a massive rigging could have been prevented. “In fact, it was the beginning of rigging in the country,” Sheikh said, adding, “And when the electoral symbol of ‘bat’ was snatched from the PTI, it was a last nail into the party’s coffin.”

PTI leader said that despite the fact that so much was done during the last two years to break up the PTI, the party had still managed to win a two-third majority in these elections. “And all those blue-eyed boys, Nawaz Sharif and others have failed,” he said.

He was of the view that the country was sinking deep into mire by the day. “The country’s image in the world has been tarnished,” he said, adding, “The IMF will also not come to our rescue.”

Sheikh said that there was still a way to put the house in order and that was to update Form 47 as per Form 45 in the entire country and to later announce it in Form 49.

He stressed the need for unity so that the nation could work for the country’s progress and stability.
