Argentina's libertarian new President Javier Milei launched a broadside against socialism at the meeting of global political and business elites in Davos on Wednesday, warning it was a threat to the West.

"I am here today to tell you that the West is in danger," Milei told the World Economic Forum in his first maiden trip as president.

He touted free-market capitalism as the only solution against poverty and took aim at "radical feminism", abortion and "social justice".

Milei concluded his speech by praising business leaders as "heroes" who should not be afraid of the "political caste" and "the parasites that live off the state".

"The state is not the solution. The state is the problem," he said, ending his speech with his battle cry, "long live freedom, damn it!"
