Firefighters on Tuesday finally managed to douse the blaze that had erupted at a perfume and cosmetics factory near Super Highway in Karachi’s industrial area yesterday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chief Fire Officer Abrar Sheikh said the cooling process had now begun, which would take five to six hours to complete. “And cause of the fire would only be ascertained once the process is complete,” he explained.
He said 30 fire brigade vehicles, 15 during the day and 15 during the night, participated in the fire extinguishing operation that lasted for 12 hours, while over 35 tankers of the Water Board poured water on the flames.
Sheikh informed that the firefighters were facing difficulties in entering the building since it was in a dilapidated condition.
He further said that smoke was still rising from the factory due to the presence of plastic in it.
He disclosed that three firefighters, who were injured while battling the flames, had been provided medical treatment.
