Bid to smuggle Iphones foiled at Jinnah Airport

The customs department has foiled a bid to smuggle Iphones worth millions of rupees into the country at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, reported 24 News HD TV Channel on Tuesday.
According to details, acting upon a tip-off that some people would try to smuggle electronic devices and mobile phones from Dubai, Deputy Collector Customs Inamullah Wazir posted customs officials in plain clothes at the Satellite Area of Jinnah International Airport’s immigration and arrival halls. The custom officials working at the green channel were also alerted.
During the clearance process of passengers who flew down here from Emirates Airline at the green channel, the plainclothes officials found an unattended shopping bag from a bathroom in the immigration area. When customs officials opened the bag, they found Iphones worth Rs10.9 million in it.
A case has been registered against unknown persons under Customs Act.
