Four most-wanted dacoits including the ringleader of the Rickshaw Gang have been arrested during a major operation by district Malir police in Shah Latif Town of Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Kashif Abbasi, eight mobile phones, two pistols and a rickshaw were recovered from arrested ringleader Rahim Bakhsh and his accomplice Sabir, Ashiq and Asif. 

SSP Kashif Abbasi said that Asif, the accomplice of the accused, used to pick rides from different places on rickshaw and alerts the gang leader about the cash and valuables in the passenger's possession.

Accused Rahim Bakhsh had already served his sentence in jail for more than 18 years for a major dacoity, the SSP Malir said.

He said the accused martyred a policeman while escaping from the court along with his accomplice. The accused was arrested in an injured state.

He formed a new gang after coming out of jail recently, said the SSP Malir.

The SSP said accused Rahim Bakhsh was arrested by the police in 1998 in a robbery of Rs7 million and police contacting all the districts for more criminal records of the accused.

A case has been registered against the arrested accused and further investigation has been started.
