The Grand Teachers Alliance (GTA) has announced plans to hold a sit-in protest in front of the Lahore Civil Secretariat on September 26, 2024, until their demands are met.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the announcement was made by Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) General Secretary, Rana Liaquat Ali on Wednesday.

Rana Liaquat Ali stated that the teachers' community is prepared to use all available resources to ensure their demands are accepted.

The key demands include the immediate release of funds for the restoration of Science and Computer labs in government schools and the appointment of new teachers.

The GTA also urged the government to reinstate the leave-encashment facility and abolish recent reforms in pension income. Additionally, they are demanding a change in school timings and the reversal of the decision to privatise government schools.

Rana Liaquat Ali warned that if these demands are not met by September 25, the GTA will proceed with the sit-in protest on September 26, which will continue until their demands are fully addressed.
