The authorities have issued an alert in wake of changing weather in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to avert disaster, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
A spokesperson for the National Highway Authority (NHA) issued a guidelines for the motorists.
Commuters must adopt safety measures like fasting seatbelts, lane discipline, controlled speed, emergency lights, and pre-ride checks.
People must avoid unnecessary travel, the official said stressing that the tourists must check the weather forecast
The NHA has requested passengers to avoid unnecessary travel to upper parts of KP due to inclement weather conditions.
Upper, central and western regions of the country are at risk of being affected by bad weather, it adds.
The NHA spokesperson said that required machinery has been sent to the respective places to maintain the traffic flow on national highways and NHA teams have been alerted at various locations to deal with the changes weather.
The NHA is closely monitoring the traffic flow on the motor ways and it is fully prepared to handle any situation that may arise due to the rains, spokesperson hinted.
According to reports, there is a risk of thunderstorm in the upper parts of the country. Before starting the unavoidable travel, keep yourself aware of the weather conditions and follow the safety measures, advisory added.
Minister for Communications Asad Mehmood issued instructions to use all resources to deal with the threat.
The presence of machinery and personnel at sensitive locations has been ensured, it concluded.
