Samsung has faced rollout challenges with One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24. The South Korean tech giant has temporarily paused its global release due to a “bug”.

What the bug does: It reportedly prevents some users (Galaxy S24) from unlocking their devices.

Prior to the pause, One UI 7 began rolling out on April 7, 2025.

The bug issue, reported by South Korean users, has led Samsung to halt the rollout globally as a precaution, as per The Verge.

As a precaution, given the “significant” software glitch, Samsung's rollout pause covered not the affected models but across all devices worldwide.

The One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series, is based on Android 15, and introduces a suite of new features aimed at enhancing user experience.

Fresh update

Now, a fresh update has been released to fix the bug, and resumed the One UI 7 rollout on Thursday (April 17, 2025).

On April 16, it was reported that the Korean Galaxy S25 Ultra has received the YD9 firmware, bringing new One UI 7 features, declaring: “This is the final version of One UI 7.”

And while Samsung has not yet provided an official statement or fix for the initial bug, there are confusing reports about the fix.

One tweep posted that the issue has been "resolved", and the tech giant has already released One UI 8, with a list of devices eligible for update to the latest version.

Some users of One UI7 (on S10), meanwhile, reported that it “works perfectly”.
