MQM-P demands cancellation of political appointments in Sindh Zakat Dept

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, demanding to cancel the political appointments in Sindh Zakat Department and appointing administrators of Zakar Committee in their place, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The office-bearers of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) are deputed as chairmen of Zakat Committees at the district and local levels and as chairmen they distribute Zakar funds among their favorites, the letter read.

Siddiqui termed the control of Zakat funds by the chairmen as an attempt for “pre-poll rigging”.

“It is the duty of Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections,” he said.
