People in Parachinar are facing great inconvenience due to the closure of different routes, including the main highway for the last 70 days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

According to MNA Hameed Hussain, the closure of roads has resulted in an acute shortage of food items as well as medicines. “Bazaars and restaurants are also shut due to which people are without items of daily use,” he has said, adding, “This is not the end of the story as an increasing number of people are dying from different diseases due to the shortage of medicines, which is a matter of grave concern.”

The MNA has said that the closure of routes as well as the killings of people on the main highway put a question mark on the performance of those whose duty is to make sure that roads remain open and the law and order situation remains under control. “The silence over the killings is contrary to the principles of justice.”

The MNA has warned the government of a protest movement if roads are not opened and steps are not taken to protect the people’s lives.

On the other hand, Faisal Edhi has said that patients are being provided medicines via air ambulances, while the deputy commissioner has said that members of the Jirga have again reached Kohat for a huddle and the meeting is likely to produce positive results.
