An accountability court in Lahore provided a major relief to PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday, as it ordered the authorities to provide bulletproof vehicle to him for transporting him for hearings instead of armoured personnel carrier (APC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

But it is not just Shehbaz who will benefit from these orders as his son Hamza Shehbaz too is going to avail this relief after the recent controversy, which has now ended with the court barring the officials from using armoured vehicle for the purpose.

Jawad-ul-Hassan, the accountability court judge who is hearing the money laundering reference against Shehbaz and his family members, issued the directives as he heard a plea filed by the PML-N president.

Earlier, the home secretary and the SP Security appeared in person for Thursday’s hearing after receiving the court orders in this regard.

The issue of using the armoured vehicle has been in the news in recent weeks as Hamza missed the hearings after he was declined the provision of vehicle

Several party leaders – including Khawaja Saad Rafique, Attaullah Tarar and Marriyum Aurangzeb – have been expressing their serious concerns citing security threats posed to Shehbaz and Hamza.

The court had previously sought a report from the Kot Lakhpat jail authorities, home department and police after their failure to bring Hamza to courtroom for a hearing.

Although they had blamed Hamza for the episode, the court didn’t approve their version and expressed its anger over the matter.
