The crisis of Urea fertilizer has deepened in Faisalabad as the season of Rabi crop is around the corner, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Although the farmers have started preparing their lands for wheat crop but they remain apprehensive because the urea fertilizers is selling in black in the wheat season.
The official price of a urea bags is 2250 rupees, but it is being sold at 3000 rupees per bag in the market of Faisalabad that is much higher than the notified ones.
Despite the fact that Punjab is the country's biggest fertilizer consumer, the district administration has failed to implement the government rates in the market.
The skyrocketing prices of fertilizers especially urea compost has left the farmers desolate ahead of the production of wheat.
The country's agricultural is on its last legs as a result of the devastating flood, which will further imperil food security.
