The 17th match of PSL 9 between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi has been called off due to heavy drizzle in Rawalpindi on Saturday, reported the 24NewsHd TV channel.

There was heavy downpour in Rawalpindi and Islamabad yesterday as well.

Due to the constant downpours, the toss was delayed initially as covers were placed on the ground.

The rain stopped briefly, prompting efforts from the groundsmen to dry the ground, but the rain returned, ultimately leading to umpires deciding that no play could be possible.

Meanwhile, the rain may also play spoilsport during the second match of the day, which is scheduled between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United at the same venue.

Lahore Qalandars gained their first point in the ongoing PSL 9 as they were awarded one point along with Peshawar Zalmi after their match was called off.

Notably, Lahore Qalandars, who are defending champions of the PSL, are currently lying at the bottom of the points table after suffering six consecutive losses.

Led by Babar Azam, the Zalmi side currently holds the third position in the points table, having lost two out of five games played.

In the first match on Saturday, Lahore Qalandars were taken on Peshawar Zalmi at 2:00 pm while in the second match, Islamabad United will clash with Quetta Gladiator at 7:00 pm.

But rain had washed out the chances of first counter completely while it would also affect badly the second match between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiator.

According to officials, heavy rain with thunderstorm completely eliminated the chances of both matches.

In the last PSL match, Quetta Gladiators have defeated Karachi Kings by one wicket. Batting first, Karachi Kings set a victory target of 166 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Quetta Gladiators achieved their target in 20 overs for the loss of five wickets.
