A 12-year-old bloody feud between the Panhwar and Brohi tribes was finally settled through a traditional Jirga, which imposed Rs21.2 million in total blood money, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The high-stakes Jirga was presided over by Sardar Najaf Ali Kamario at Madeji House, where leaders and elders from both tribes gathered under tight police and administrative security.

The violent dispute, which had claimed the lives of 10 individuals, including a woman, and left hundreds injured, was resolved through a fatwa-based decision issued after detailed deliberations.

According to the ruling, members of the Brohi tribe were held responsible for the murder of one woman and three men from the Panhwar side.

The blood money for the woman was fixed at Rs5 million. While Rs10.5 million was imposed for the murder of three men and injuries caused to several others.

On the other hand, the Panhwar tribe was found guilty of killing six individuals from the Brohi tribe, for which they were fined Rs10.6 million.

In a symbolic act of reconciliation, the Panhwars paid Rs1 million immediately at the venue, while the Brohis paid Rs100,000 as an initial token.

Both tribes then placed their hands on a holy book and vowed not to engage in future hostilities. The event ended on an emotional note as participants from both sides embraced each other, signalling an end to over a decade of bloodshed.

A heavy contingent of police and district administration officials remained present throughout the gathering to ensure peace and order.
