The Trump administration has sent a second aggressive letter to Harvard University, demanding a ban on face masks during campus protests and the rejection of pro-Palestinian student groups, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
The letter, signed by officials from the General Services Administration (GSA), Department of Health, Education, and Human Resources, also calls on Harvard to fully comply with Homeland Security directives.
The letter’s content explicitly urges Harvard to enforce a mask ban during protests, citing security concerns, and to refuse recognition to pro-Palestinian groups active on campus.
In a strong rebuttal, Harvard University President Alan Garber publicly refused to comply with the White House’s demands, warning that the cancellation of student visas—another policy being floated—could have disastrous consequences for educational institutions.
“The policy of revoking student visas could wreak havoc across colleges nationwide,” Garber stated, emphasising Harvard's commitment to academic freedom and student rights.
