iPhone lovers in Pakistan may need to dig deep into their wallets, as global tech analysts warn that iPhone prices could soar to over Rs one million, thanks to rising tensions between the United States and China, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to Wedbush Securities' top tech analyst Dan Ives, a Made-in-USA iPhone could cost around $3,500 (approximately Rs 1.01 million) if former US President Donald Trump reintroduces sweeping tariffs on Chinese and Taiwanese imports — both of which are vital players in global electronics manufacturing.

China manufactures over 20 million iPhones annually, including nearly all of Apple’s flagship devices, while Taiwan remains a hub for processors and microchips, especially via TSMC, which produces Apple’s custom silicon chips.

In a scathing investor note, Ives called Trump’s tariff plan an "economic Armageddon" for the tech sector, predicting 40–50% increases in consumer tech prices, potential delays in AI development, and a decade-long setback for American innovation.

The proposed tariff hike includes a 50% duty on Chinese imports and 32% on Taiwanese goods.

In retaliation, China has imposed 34% tariffs on US products, escalating the chances of a renewed trade war that could disrupt global tech supply chains.

For Pakistani consumers, the impact could be brutal. Already faced with heavy local taxes and a weak rupee, a new iPhone might soon become a luxury only the elite can afford — or, as some joked, “worth a kidney.”
