Expressing deep grief and shock over the apathy of doctors and paramedical staff towards patients at Government Teaching Hospital Shahdara in Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday said that nobody could even think of meting out such a treatment to patients, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The chief minister directed Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare Dr. Javed Akram to reach the hospital immediately.
He also directed Fatima Jinnah Medical University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal to rush to the hospital, inspect the situation and stay there until further orders.
Earlier, CM Naqvi went round different wards and departments of the hospital and inquired after the patients.
He expressed his strong displeasure over non-functional air-conditioners (ACs), and said it was beyond comprehension why ACs were switched off in this extreme heat.
He also reprimanded the DMS who had nothing to say in his defence as to why medicines were not available at the pharmacy.
The chief minister was also shocked to see that doctors and nurses were also absent, leaving attendants to look after patients.
