Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) President Shehbaz Sharif has said that his party has nothing to do with Jehangir Tareen affair terming it an internal matter between the PTI and the pro-Tareen renegades, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The PML-N president visited Charsadda to mourn the death of veteran Awami National Party leader Begum Naseem Wali Khan on Thursday.

He lauded the struggle of Begum Naseem in Pakistani politics, declaring her a brave woman. He said the ANP had rendered numerous sacrifices in its war against terrorism. He praised Pakhtuns for putting up a fight against terror.

Talking about the NRO, Shehbaz questioned the logic behind this argument saying what kind of deal they could have possibly made when they were facing jails.

He said he was put behind the bars in 1996 for the first time. He said he spent his days in Attock Jail along with his elder brother and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and also in Landhi Jail. He said his son Hamza Sharif and niece Maryam Nawaz Sharif were also incarcerated. He showed his bewilderment what kind of NRO it was.

He said he was brought to the court in the armoured vehicle in the most disgraceful manner. He also alleged that he was lodged with the common prisoners in the jail and was made to sleep on the floor on the orders of the prime minister. It aggravated his back pain, he complained.

He lamented that the government had deteriorated the economy, adding that poverty and inflation had made people’s lives miserable.

He said the government gave billions of rupees in subsidy to the sugar exporters.

He criticized the government approach towards handling the Covid-19 pandemic saying that the government relied on the donated vaccines and let the situation got out of hand. He said in terms of inoculating the population, Pakistan lagged behind even Bangladesh.

He said when he was in power in Punjab, his government did not rest until it tackled the dengue virus. Even they were nicknamed as ‘dengue brothers’, he added.

He said many names had been revealed in the Rawalpindi Ring Road scandal and demanded action against them. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan himself gave approval of the expansion of the ring road. First, the PM issued an order for the expansion, then he started making clamour, Shehbaz said.

Shehbaz alleged that fraud of billions of rupees was committed in the Peshawar BRT scheme. He said no buses were hitting the Peshawar roads rather they were being burnt down.
