Punjab Health Department issues heatwave advisory

On the instructions of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the Punjab Health Department on Sunday issued a heatwave advisory, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
PDMA Director General (DG) Irfan Ali Kathia said that intense heat had been predicted for different parts of Punjab from May 21 to May 27.
“The heatwave may be more severe in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan districts of south Punjab,” he informed.
The department directed the hospitals’ administrations to set up heatwave counters and ensure the supply of all medicines prescribed for the patients of heatstroke.
“Citizens are being informed about the dangers of heatwave through print, electronic and social media,” said PDMA DG.
All departments can fight heat wave with joint and mutual cooperation, he aded.
It is predicted that the next ten days will be covered by severe heat wave, Irfan Ali Kathia informed.
The public is requested to take precautionary measures, avoid exertion and exercise in strong sunlight, do not step out of the house unnecessarily and wear light colored cotton clothes.
